Nexus Application for Children

NEXUS Support Services process NEXUS CHILD RENEWAL applications for a minimal fee of $10. For security reasons, child renewal applications are only processed online and we do not accept paper applications by email or fax for child NEXUS cards. The $10 payment option is to enable Nexus Support Services to verify identity of the Paying Parent/Legal Guardian and prevent fraudulent child renewal applications being processed by NEXUS Support Services.

Your NEXUS child application must contain supporting documentation otherwise your child may be denied a NEXUS card. All infants and children require the consent of a parent or legal guardian to apply for a NEXUS pass. NEXUS card applications for children are scrutinized in the same way as an adult NEXUS card application; however fewer child applications for NEXUS are denied entry to the program as few children have criminal and immigration violations compared to adult NEXUS pass applicants. In most cases when a child is denied a NEXUS pass, the reason comes down to inaccurate or incomplete information provided on the application form.

You can apply for a child NEXUS pass even if you or their other parent or guardian is not a NEXUS card holders. Parents who share custody of their children should carry copies of the legal custodian documents. It is also recommended that they have a letter of authorization from the other custodial parent to take the child on a trip out of the country. Providing such a letter will confirm that the child is not being abducted or taken against his or her will. The parents/guardians’ full name, address and telephone number should be Included in the letter of authorization.

All infants applying for a NEXUS card must attend a NEXUS interview at a NEXUS enrollment center of your choice. At your NEXUS interview, children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian who has legal custody of the child; families will be interviewed in one joint meeting. The parent or guardian must present documentary evidence proving their custodial rights and proof that there are no restrictions on the child’s removal from the jurisdiction of custody.The NEXUS officer will scrutinize the documents to ascertain that the parents or guardians applying for the NEXUS card for children is actually the parents or legal guardians of the NEXUS child applicant. Child NEXUS applicants do not have to have an iris scan unless their parents request it.

Inaccurate or incomplete NEXUS pass application forms are automatically denied access to the NEXUS cards program.

When traveling with a group of vehicles, guardians or parents should arrive at the border in the same vehicle as the children.Any adults who are not the child`s parents or guardians should have written permission from the parents or guardians to supervise the children`s travel. The permission letter should include addresses and telephone numbers where the parents or guardian can be reached. Upon your arrival at the US Canada border with children in your car you may be subject to detailed questions about the children traveling with you because customs and border protection officers are constantly on watch for missing and abducted children.

NEXUS Pass Requirements

Although few children have convictions they must meet the NEXUS program requirements in order to qualify for a Nexus card. Nexus applicants may not qualify for participation in the NEXUS program if they: Provide false or incomplete information on the application;

	Have pending criminal charges to include outstanding warrants, or have been convicted of any criminal offense;
	Have been found in violation of any immigration, customs, or agriculture regulations or laws in any country;
	Are inadmissible to the United States under immigration regulation, including applicants with parole documentation and approved waivers of
	inadmissibility or ;
	Are subjects of an ongoing investigation by any state, local law enforcement or federal agency;
	Cannot satisfy CBP officers of their low risk status or meet other program requirements;

All Nexus Support Service fees must be paid via PayPal – your application cannot be processed unless you have made a PayPal transaction to Immigration TS. Government certification fees will be paid using the credit card included on your application form. Government fees are non-refundable. NSS fees are non-refundable once you receive your Trusted Traveler profile information.
